Audi spare parts

The Audi car manufacturer was founded by one of the pioneers of the industry-August Horch, who, after retiring from ""A. Horch & Cie"" and no longer having permission to use his own name in order to register the newly founded trademark, decided to resort to its Latin translation.

The Audi GmbH automobile factory in Zwickau was founded in 1910. In 1928, however, the company was acquired by J.S. Rasmussen of Zschopauer (brand name: DKW). Both companies were merged in 1932 with two other Auto-Union manufacturers (the union today is symbolized by the famous four rings). From that point on, the company would focus on the mid-range model segment.

The new Auto Union AG, based in Chemnitz, was expropriated after the end of World War II and, in 1948, removed from the commercial register. Thus, during 1949-1950 the business was taken over and carried on by the new Auto Union GmbH in Ingolstadt, under the DKW brand. After being part of the Daimler-Benz AG consortium for a short time, between 1964 and 1966 Volkswagen AG acquired the majority stake in Auto Union AG, bringing the new brand ""Audi"" to the market. The subsequent merger with NSU in 1969 led to the reestablishment of Audi AG, which to this day belongs almost entirely to the Volkswagen Group. Today, Audi's major assembly factories are located in Ingolstadt, Neckarsulm, Györ (Hungary) and Brussels.
